During the summer before my final year at UCA, I explored Islamic patterns in depth. While in Egypt, I gathered a wealth of inspirational photographs that significantly influenced these pieces. The work represents a fusion of both my minor and major projects.
The finished works evoke a sense of tranquillity for me, and they remind me of the buildings I used to run around in as a child. Through this process, I've not only connected with my heritage but also found a personal way to honour it by blending traditional influences with contemporary glass-making techniques.
This synthesis of past and present has deepened my appreciation for cultural craftsmanship, allowing me to develop a visual language that feels both personal and timeless.
